As part of playing an active role in improving energy use, EMANZ promotes training and continuous professional development in energy management.

EMANZ currently has its own training programme to complement and enhance existing training programmes offered by others.  EMANZ is also enhancing its existing accreditation framework that formally recognizes the levels of competency an individual has achieved in relation to Energy Management.  EMANZ is working with a number of other Industry Associations to target key areas where training needs analysis has identified areas where significant improvements in energy use can be made.

Accreditation

EMANZ has a growing programme of providing training to improve understanding of energy management and efficiency and to build an increasing resource of skilled energy practitioners. An important component on the programme is to provide a means of recognising expertise by accrediting those who are able to demonstrate levels of energy management expertise. The means of achieving accreditation are outlined below.

There are presently four different accreditations managed by EMANZ plus another under development:

• Compressed Air Energy Auditor
• Energy Manager (Facilities)
• Commercial Buildings Energy Specialist
• Fleet Transport Auditor (Under development)

EMANZ Energy Management Training

Current courses: 

Training for Commercial Building Energy Specialists

This course has been created for engineers and technicians who specialise in improving energy efficiency in commercial buildings from the design stage on. It covers the latest technology and techniques and is set at Advanced Trade to Degree level, equivalent to NZQA 5-7.

Energy Efficiency for Facilities Managers

This is the perfect course for anyone who manages buildings and facilities day to day. It was prepared with the help of the Facilities Management Association of New Zealand and offers training in electricity and energy, focussing on the ways that building systems can make the most efficient use of resources. The course is set at the equivalent of Levels 5-6 on the NZ Qualifications Framework.

Commercial Property Valuers’ Energy Efficiency Training Course

This training course provides energy efficiency training for commercial property valuers and commercial real estate agents.  The course aims to demonstrate why energy efficiency needs to be part of the equation when considering the value of a commercial building.  The course trains individuals about the benefits of electricity and energy efficiency in commercial buildings, and how to ensure electricity and energy efficiency adds to the value of a building and is reflected in building valuations.  The course has been developed in consultation with PINZ.
