The Energy in Local Government Group was established to provide a forum for those working in the area of energy management at the Local Government Level.  The Group provides leadership and advice to the Executive Officer.  Discussions focus on energy management and energy use in local government facilities and wider energy issues that impact on local government.  A key focus of this Group is the development of Regional Forums which focus on energy issues of relevance to energy managers working in local government.

Group Vision:  To establish the EMANZ Focus Group as the industry focal point for Local Government Energy issues.

Members of this Committee are all volunteers.  They undertake activities on behalf of the Group alongside their normal day to day jobs.  They are experts in a range of energy fields, many work directly for Local Government (Council employees) while others provide services to Councils on a range of energy issues.

Work Programme

2009-10 Work Programme for the Energy in Local Government Focus Group.

Some key activities include:

  • Establish a regular programme of Local Government themed regional events.
  • Develop an Energy Performance Indicator Database of relevance to local government facilities (swimming pools, libraries etc).
