Energy Audit Focus Group PDF Print E-mail

The EMANZ Energy Audit Group was established to create a forum for discussions on energy auditing in New Zealand.  The Group provides leadership and advice to the Executive Officer on the Energy Auditor Accreditation Scheme and maintains a watching brief on auditing issues both nationally and internationally.  The Group's aim is to ensure that New Zealand has a thriving energy auditing sector with auditors that deliver high quality work to clients.

This Group works closely with EECA to monitor energy audits carried out every year.  Currently the focus of the Group is large scale auditing - Commercial and Industrial - but activities on the development of training courses will also cover residential audits.  EMANZ's Energy Auditing Programme currently has one main 'Audit Class' - Accredited Energy Auditor.  New classes are currently being considered.

Group Vision: To establish EMANZ as the key source of information, expertise and resources on energy auditing.

Work Programme

Some key activities include:

The areas which seem to be alive this year are:

  • Accreditation and reaccreditation - to act as a sounding board as to issues which may arise as we assess applicants.
  • AS/NZS 3598 update which is currently going through its long and slow development. I am the EMANZ and IPENZ appointee to SA committee EN-001 which will be looking at the shape of the new standard (and other engineering standards also), and Dan Coffey is the EECA representative. I will welcome comments and input from the group as issues arise. Nothing yet, it has still to reach the committee process.
  • Any other issues which may arise from time to time. Please raise anything with the group, especially if there are any concerns on any matters to do with energy auditing.
