Technical Session - Acquiring Accurate Power Data In Real Time (11:00 am - 12:00 - noon)
New on the scene at the recent EMANZ conference in Christchurch was power monitoring startup Gridspy. Their monitoring solution presents power usage data directly to auditors and end use customers via a simple web interface.
Tom and Stephen Leys - the Kiwis who invented and designed the Gridspy Solution - will be presenting an overview of how it works, how it is installed and what data it presents.
They will cover the following topics:
1. An overview of the Gridspy Dashboard - Including some simple practical lessons learned by customers
2. Physical installation of Gridspy into existing distribution boards
3. Web based commissioning of the installed Gridspy solution
4. How power usage data is stored and uploaded to the cloud
5. Technical details of power measurement:
- Briefly how CTs work
- Analyzing the output signal for CTs
- Power factor measurement
6. How ongoing web-based monitoring helps auditors build stronger relationships with their customers
They will also be able to answer a wide range of technical questions about Gridspy and power monitoring in general.
